What Is THCA? Legality and What We Sell

At US Hemp Farm, we’re all about education and quality. We believe that informed consumers make the best choices, and that starts with learning directly from the growers—not from middlemen who might change strain names or skip proper lab testing.

Every one of our hemp-derived products is thoroughly tested for both potency and pesticides, so you can trust what you’re getting. Again, we are the growers, so we have our hand in every step of the process. From the start of the plant’s life, to the packaging of your products, we are always there. 

 

So, what is in “Hemp”?

Cannabis plants produce nearly 100 different cannabinoids, each with its own unique effects.

The first cannabinoid to focus on is Delta-9 THC, or Delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol. This is crucial because it’s what keeps us 100% federally legal and compliant. To meet legal standards, all hemp products must contain less than 0.3% Delta-9 THC.

Next up is THCa, or tetrahydrocannabinolic acid. THCa is the non-psychoactive precursor to THC, the compound responsible for the “high” associated with cannabis. In its natural state, cannabis plants produce THCa rather than THC. THCa is abundant in freshly harvested or raw cannabis buds and doesn’t produce the psychoactive effects on its own. However, when heated—a process known as decarboxylation—THCa converts into THC, creating the euphoric effects. Our hemp flowers are rich in THCa.

Then there’s CBD, or cannabidiol, the second most well-known cannabinoid after THC. CBD is naturally present in hemp products at varying levels. Many hemp flowers are rich in both CBD and THCa, which together deliver the remarkable effects associated with cannabis products.

 

So, what does this all do?

Everyone’s main question is: Does THCa get you “high”?

When THCa is heated—a process known as decarboxylation—it loses a carboxyl group from its molecular structure and turns into THC. This can happen through various heating methods or even naturally as raw cannabis ages and dries.

Once THCa is converted into THC, it interacts with the endocannabinoid system differently, leading to the psychoactive effects commonly associated with cannabis. So, while THCa itself doesn’t get you high, it has the potential to do so once it’s transformed into THC.

Bottom line? Our products do produce the effects of a typical “high”.

 

So… Is this legal?

The short answer? Yes, at least on the federal level.

US Hemp Farm has a Michigan State approved Hemp Growers license. We also have a Michigan State approved license to process, and handle Hemp. Not only are we compliant and licensed in our home state we are 100% federally legal. 

All of our Hemp Products fall below the 0.3% Delta-9 THC by dry weight which is required by federal law. 

It is imperative to note that while hemp-derived products are federally legal, state laws vary. Some states have more regulations, or restrictions. Some states ban certain cannabis derived products. Check with your local state laws. We do not ship our products internationally.
